Cadiz man arrested for trafficking cocaine, DUI

Hopkinsville police arrested a Cadiz man Thursday night on for trafficking in cocaine, fleeing or evading police, DUI and several other charges.

According to the police report, 29-year old Russell Lancaster of Cadiz was observed pulling on North Sunset Circle in front of oncoming traffic, nearly causing a collision. A traffic stop was initiated and once stopped, Lancaster allegedly fled on foot, running around 132 N. Sunset twice before being apprehended.

During the foot pursuit, he allegedly dropped a large amount of cocaine into a yard, which was located by a K9. A search of Lancaster’s person reportedly revealed a significant amount of cash and synthetic marijuana.  He allegedly admitted to consuming alcohol and the synthetic marijuana prior to driving.

Lancaster was arrested and charged with trafficking in cocaine, fleeing or evading police, DUI, possession of an open alcohol container, failure to yield, possession of synthetic drugs and tampering with physical evidence. He was additionally served with two warrants for failure to appear.
