Hopkinsville woman charged with theft of firearms

A Hopkinsville woman was served with a criminal summons for allegedly stealing a firearm from a residence she was housesitting.

According to the Christian County Sheriff’s Department report, 38-year old Naomi Duerksen of Hopkinsville was looking after the home of the victim while they were in Illinois. She reportedly removed two firearms from the home and pawned them.  When the victim returned and found them missing, Duerksen reportedly admitted to stealing them.

The firearms were recovered from the pawn shop. Duerksen is charged with theft by unlawful taking of a firearm.
