Japanese company buys building in Commerce Park

A Japanese manufacturer of metal products has purchased a building in Commerce Park.

The Southwestern Kentucky Economic Development Council has announced that Yamakin purchased the vacant 16,000 square-foot Brymak Building from Chris Hamby for “a price in excess of a half-million dollars.”

Mark Lindsey is the executive director of the Economic Development Council and says officials with Yamakin came to Hopkinsville looking for a suitable location.

Lindsey says Yamakin will begin as a warehousing operation with only a handful of employees, but growth is anticipated.

Hopkinsville has several Japanese industries in its industrial parks and Lindsey says that certainly helps recruitment.

Chairman Eston Glover says in a news release that the Economic Development Council is excited Yamakin chose Hopkinsville to grow their business and that they will continue to support Yamakin as they have additional growth in the future.
