Man gets second DUI after hitting house with car

A Hopkinsville man was arrested for his second DUI late Wednesday night after he struck a neighbor’s house with his car.

The collision report from Hopkinsville Police says 67-year old Terry Simpson was attempting to pull into the driveway at 2171 Richard Street about 11:30 p.m. when he veered to the left and struck the corner of 2717 Richard.

The homeowner told police he heard the crash, went outside and found Simpson lying on the ground. Simpson reportedly said he was okay and that he had been drinking.

Officer Ben Wright found Simpson in his home and he refused to take field sobriety tests. He told police he had consumed several drinks and registered a .197 on the breathalyzer—over twice the legal limit.

Simpson was arrested and charged with his second DUI.

The report says there was visible damage to the neighbor’s home and landscaping.
