Girl Scout cookies arrive in Pennyrile

Girl Scout cookies have officially landed in Christian County, but it’s not too late to buy some and support local Girl Scout troops.

Cecilia Cloos is the Service Unit Manager for Christian, Todd and Trigg and says Wednesday was delivery day, as 25,160 boxes of the widely popular snacks will go out to the troops who ordered them and soon be at stores for purchase.

She says a percentage of the money raised through cookie sales goes back to the troops to benefit the girls in different ways.

Cookies are $5 per box with specialty cookies, such as gluten free or s’mores, being $6. Cloos says selling the cookies educates the girls on how to run a business, gain marketing skills, how to deal in customer service and how to manage money. In return, the girls receive badges and recognitions for their efforts.
