Slick spots possible on area roads this morning

Freezing rain last night and early this morning has caused Todd County Schools to close for the day.

A Todd County Schools official says the closure is due to ice on some roads.  It will be a non-traditional instruction day. Muhlenberg County Schools are also closed, with staff to report to work there at 8:30 a.m.

A dispatcher with Todd County Emergency Services specifically noted a report of ice on KY 181 from Elkton to Clifty that was received at about 4 a.m.

No problems were reported in Christian or Trigg counties this morning, though motorists should allow some extra time and be on the lookout for black ice—especially on bridges and overpasses. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Spokesman Keith Todd says crews have been on the roads salting in area counties through the night.
