HPD: Man arrested for DUI after striking fence

Hopkinsville police arrested a man Saturday for DUI after he allegedly struck a fence with his vehicle while under the influence.

According to the police report, 38-year old Santos Morales Menjivar of Hopkinsville was involved in a single vehicle collision around 5 p.m. where he allegedly struck a fence, damaging it. Menjivar was located later on East 23rd Street in an alleyway, in the vehicle with keys in the ignition.

Officers reportedly observed multiple cans of alcohol in the vehicle and Menjivar was allegedly actively drinking an alcoholic beverage when they arrived. He allegedly admitted to drinking four drinks and the report says he was “manifestly” under the influence. He reportedly blew a .227 on a Breathalyzer test.

He was arrested and charged with DUI, possession of an open alcohol container in a vehicle, failure to notify change of address and no operator’s license.
