City of Hopkinsville receives clean audit

Hopkinsville City Council heard the 2016-17 audit report at Tuesday’s meeting and approved an amendment to an ordinance concerning roadwork.

York, Neel and Associates conducted the audit for the City of Hopkinsville and Kerry Fort with that group says the city received a clean audit, as it has for several years.

He went on to say the City has strong reporting standards, stays on budget throughout the year and they did not find any instances of non-compliance to any regulations, nor did they find any weaknesses in the financial statements.

In other action, city council approved an amendment to the Hopkinsville Code of Ordinances concerning Streets and Sidewalks. Councilman Terry Parker says the amendment allows for City to set the standards for companies performing roadwork and repairing the road afterwards.

The Concord Lane annexation was approved on second reading, officially making the 122 acres of land located off the Pennyrile Parkway at Concord Lane a part of the city.

Recently promoted Hopkinsville Fire Department Lt. Martin Bangart and Fire Captain Spencer Wood were recognized, along with Mayor for a Day Isiah Marshall.
