Woman gets second DUI after hitting mailbox

Hopkinsville Police arrested a woman for her second DUI in three years on Donna Drive Sunday morning after she allegedly hit a mailbox and then got her vehicle stuck in the mud.

Officers responded to 126 Donna about 2:20 a.m. for vehicles parked in the driveway that did not belong there. Police found 35-year old Alicia Reyes of Hopkinsville in a vehicle and she admitted to backing a truck into a mailbox.

The truck became stuck and she said a man she didn’t know stopped to help her, but drove it farther into the yard and it became stuck again. She said that person left the scene to call someone else to assist her.

An arrest citation says Reyes was manifestly under the influence of alcohol and she registered a blood alcohol content of .169—over twice the legal limit—on the breathalyzer test. Reyes reportedly admitted she’d consumed four beers at a bar earlier in the night.

She was arrested for her second DUI since August of 2015.
