Marshall County suspect appears in juvenile court

A probable cause hearing was held in juvenile court Thursday for the 15-year old male suspect accused of killing two and injuring 18 students in a shooting Tuesday at Marshall County High School.

Assistant County Attorney Jason Darnall says the suspect will be held in state custody for the duration of his case and the county attorney’s office notified the court they will be filing paperwork this week to transfer the case to Marshall Circuit Court.

The juvenile is charged with two counts of murder and 12 counts of first-degree assault.

Darnall praised students, teachers and staff at Marshall County High School for the way they’ve handled the tragedy. Governor Matt Bevin and Lieutenant Governor Jenean Hampton will be at the Children’s Art Activity Center in Benton Friday morning at 10 for a special event in conjunction with the faith-based community to support the Marshall County community.
