Pollard running for sheriff

Hopkinsville Police Officer Franklin Pollard has announced he’ll run as an independent for Christian County Sheriff.

Pollard serves as the school resource officer at Hopkinsville Middle School and says his goal as sheriff would be to start directing children away from a path of crime at an early age.

He’s registered as an independent and hopes to garner support from Democrats and Republicans.

Pollard says he wouldn’t anticipate making any immediate major changes at the sheriff’s department, if he’s elected.

Pollard is retiring from the Hopkinsville Police Department, effective May 1st.

He joins a crowded field that includes Lyn Moe, James Dragoo, Julius Catlett, Sr. and Kahle Morris Jr. on the Democratic side and Chuck Inman and Tyler DeArmond on the Republican side.
