Sunday’s women’s college basketball scores

Maci Morris scored 19 points and Taylor Murray added 17, but Kentucky lost to 10th ranked South Carolina 81-64. Kentucky is back in action Thursday night hosting Alabama.

Elsewhere in the SEC: Mercedes Russell recorded 16 points, but sixth ranked Tennessee was unable to overcome a 13-point halftime deficit in a 71-52 loss to third rated Mississippi State. Tennessee returns to SEC play Thursday night against Ole Miss.

Vanderbilt took a 72-71 lead with 30 seconds left on a bucket from Chelsie Hall but Alabama sealed a 77-75 win by going 6-of-7 from the free throw line in the final 30 seconds. Vanderbilt hosts Texas A & M next Sunday.

Florida State guard A.J. Alix made a clutch long-range shot. The 12th ranked Seminoles then made sure number two Louisville didn’t answer with one of its own and earned a signature road victory. Alix made a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:04 remaining, helping FSU hand Louisville its first loss of the season, 50-49. Louisville is back in action Wednesday at Miami.

C-USA Player of the Year candidate Tashia Brown turned in one of her strongest performances of the season with a season-high 33 points and was one of four Lady Toppers in double figures as WKU earned an 86-66 victory against Marshall. The Lady Toppers play at North Texas Friday night.
